St. Katharine Drexel's Kindergarten Program builds a strong foundation for academic excellence in a spiritual and nurturing environment. Daily activities integrate faith and moral values throughout all aspects of the curriculum, and provide opportunities for the growth of the whole child.
Curriculum Includes:
Daily reading and thematic units expand children's grasp of the world around them
Children learn responsibility and self-control through guidance and support of warm caring adults
Small class sizes allow for differentiated instruction (children do not learn the same things at the same time in the same way)
Children have opportunities to interact with primary and middle level students
A fully certified faculty fosters a partnership with parents
Developmentally appropriate activities encourage the growth of a child's self-esteem, independence, and individual strengths
Children learn numbers and the alphabet in the context of their everyday experiences
Children work on projects and have to play and explore

The child who is ready for Kindergarten physically, socially, intellectually, and emotionally will be able to cope and learn without undue stress. The principal, teacher, and/or parent may decide to withdraw a child if, in their educated opinion, the kindergarten placement is not in the child’s best interest at this time. Children who have not attended preschool will be admitted conditionally, with a review of progress after four weeks. Students must be five years of age by September 1 to be accepted in Kindergarten.
