Meet Ms. Linda Bechtol
Principal

Ms. Linda Bechtol was born in El Paso, Texas and raised as an Army “brat.” As a child she lived in El Paso, Japan, and Paris France. She attended the University of Texas in El Paso and graduated with an Elementary Education degree in 1971. She taught for one year in El Paso prior to marrying and moving to Germany for a year. While in Germany, she substitute taught at the military school where her husband was stationed.

Upon returning to the United States Ms. Bechtol and her husband decided to start their family. She has two daughters and three grandchildren, 15, 10, and 1, with another due in December. Her daughters and their families live in the Pittsburgh area. She returned to teaching when her older daughter was in first grade.

Ms. Bechtol has been an educator with the Diocese of Pittsburgh since 1981. She taught for 26 years in the same building. The school was originally St. Pius X which merged with Resurrection and Our Lady of Loreto to form Brookline Regional Catholic. She has taught 1st through 8th grades during her teaching career. Three years ago, she became the principal of Holy Spirit School in Millvale. The closing of the school at the end of the 2010 school year brought her to St. Katharine Drexel School.

Ms. Bechtol is a member of St. Pius X parish where she is a Lector and an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist. Her faith is very important to her and drives her both personally and professionally. She loves to spend time with her grandchildren, read, and crochet.

Ms. Bechtol is looking forward to a working with everyone connected to St. Katharine Drexel School. She has an open-door policy, so please feel free to stop in to meet her. She welcomes everyone to another wonderful year here at St. Katharine Drexel School.
